Source Solutions are working with an established, reputable and growing engineering and environmental services business, in identifying an experienced engineer and team leader, to take a key role in their commercial department's growth, working as Lead Marine Engineer, the lynchpin between the engineers and senior management. This is a new position born out of growth and as such the position will grow and develop around the successful candidate as the department itself develops and grows.

The Lead Marine Engineer role requires someone who has a strong grasp of relevant on-board mechanical systems as well as experience of leading teams of engineers. This could be leading teams during:

  • Maintenance periods
  • Service on-board
  • Repair works and overhauls
  • Builds

This is a role where you will start mostly on workshop management, driving improvements, developing the department and overseeing the team, ensuring works are delivered. However, the role will later develop into a split between site and office, working with other leaders in the business whilst also carrying out managerial office tasks. As the Lead Marine Engineer for the department, you will also work directly with clients on site and at their offices.

  • Knowledge of ship's systems – mech mostly
  • Supervisory / leadership experience – experience leading a team of engineers or technicians
  • Ability to deal with various personalities and adaptability to changing requirements
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal with clients
