Role Overview
The Integration Support Engineer is responsible for deploying, supporting, and maintaining system integrations across internal platforms and external customer environments. The role combines networking, application deployment, and technical support, working closely with development teams to ensure reliable and secure integration services.
Key Responsibilities
- Integration Deployment & Configuration
- Configure and deploy new integration solutions across internal and customer environments
- Install and configure internally developed software applications
- Support onboarding of new customers, ensuring integrations are deployed to agreed standards
- Assist in testing and validation of integrations prior to go-live
- Networking & Security Setup
- Configure and maintain VPN connections (site-to-site and client VPNs)
- Implement and manage firewall rules on FortiGate appliances
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues across secure network environments
- Ensure all configurations align with organisational security and compliance policies
- Support & Incident Management
- Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers for integration-related issues
- Troubleshoot integration failures, data flow issues, and connectivity problems
- Monitor system performance and support proactive issue resolution
- Log, track, and resolve incidents in line with SLAs
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with software development teams to support new releases and enhancements
- Assist in identifying root causes of recurring issues and propose improvements
- Contribute to technical documentation, including deployment guides and knowledge base articles
- Support automation and standardisation of deployment processes where possible
Qualifications
Key Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Experience configuring VPNs and firewall rules (FortiGate preferred)
- Working knowledge of SQL query
- Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, NAT, ports/protocols)
- Experience deploying and supporting software applications in customer environments
- Troubleshooting experience across network, application, and integration layers
- Familiarity with Windows Server environments
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users
- Desirable
- Experience with healthcare or NHS integrations (e.g. HL7, FHIR, LIMS, pathology systems)
- Experience with secure data transfer methods (SFTP, APIs, REST services)
- Exposure to monitoring tools and logging platforms
- Understanding of ITIL or structured service management processes
