We are currently seeking an organised, reliable, and hands-on Stores Operative to join our clients team on a permanent basis. This is a varied role where you’ll take ownership of stores operations while also supporting vehicle maintenance and facilities upkeep. You’ll play a key role in ensuring goods are received, stored, and distributed efficiently, stock is accurately controlled, and our equipment, vehicles, and facilities are well maintained and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities
- Stores Management
- Receive, check, and log incoming deliveries
- Pick, pack, and dispatch goods accurately and efficiently
- Maintain accurate stock records and carry out regular stock counts
- Investigate and report stock discrepancies
- Keep storage areas clean, safe, and well organised
- Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, and inspections in line with maintenance schedules
- Carry out basic vehicle checks (fluids, tyres, etc.)
- Liaise with drivers and suppliers to ensure timely maintenance and repairs
- Support the allocation, cleanliness, and readiness of company vehicles
- Assist in maintaining the overall condition and safety of company premises
- Support annual inspections of tools and equipment, including PAT testing (full training provided)
- Coordinate building maintenance and minor repairs
- Assist with general site upkeep and occasional project support
- Support compliance with health, safety, and fire policies, including:
- Conducting fire alarm tests
- Assisting with fire drills and emergency procedures
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working in a stores or warehouse environment
- Full UK driving licence
- Forklift licence
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- A proactive, organised individual with a positive, can-do attitude
