CoMA London (Contemporary Music for All) is seeking composers in residence for 2027. This is a special opportunity to be embedded for a year with an innovative community ensemble dedicated to making contemporary music accessible to players of a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.
The selected composers will rehearse and perform with the ensemble – based in east London – for the calendar year then write music to be performed at the end of the year. The experience of playing with the ensemble will give the composers valuable insight into the way it works, how the ensemble interprets and develops new music for amateurs, and how to write successfully for it.
The composers in residence will receive feedback and mentoring from Lucia Švecová, CoMA London Ensemble’s Music Director. They will also benefit from advice and suggestions from the group’s other members, many of whom have huge experience of working with composers on new music over the past three decades.
