LOCATION: Witham
HOURS: Shifts working 9 hours per shift (6am - 3pm and 3pm β Midnight)
Responsibilities
- Production of roasted products as instructed by malting management, including operation of filling equipment, roasting drum, cooler and product storage plant, streets and turners SIW and cast as required.
- Liaison with barley and malting staff to determine availability of raw materials.
- Running the roaster drums to achieve the colour and quality of product required by the malting management.
- Movement of the product to final store as instructed.
- Sampling of product and ensuring prompt delivery of sample to Malt lab.
- Liaison with engineering staff to report and assist in identifying operational problems.
- Liaison with malting management to report any obvious production anomalies and to be familiar with the latest instructions and procedures.
- General cleanliness of roast house and green malt production areas, conveying equipment, inside roasting drums, coolers, streets and turners.
- Completion of all necessary record keeping on computer and roasters book, in accordance with quality procedures including booking consumed malt batches off system.
- Greasing of no.3 and no.4 roasting machines.
- Ensure security of site by locking gates at night.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications: GCSE (or equivalent) minimum of a grade C in English, Maths and a Science subject.
Skills/Abilities: Able to determine colour differences by eye, self-motivated and able to work under own initiative, quality awareness, adaptable and flexible, literate and numerate, team player.
Working Knowledge: Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
Desirable Skills/Abilities: Carry out minor repairs of plant machinery.
Working Knowledge: Experience of working within brewing/distilling/malt industry.
