The Role
The Casual Technician will provide flexible support to the wider Logistics warehouse team, assisting primarily with unpacking artworks, safe handling, storage, and the packing of artworks for transport between storage facilities, as well as supporting the team with the collection process. A high standard of client service is required when dealing with both external clients and internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Unpack, handle, store and pack artworks for internal transfer in accordance with our procedures.
- Support the wider logistics team to ensure that all artworks are processed through the photography process within the designated timelines.
- Work alongside the wider logistics team to ensure all artworks scheduled for transportation are packed in accordance with our procedures, prepared and ready for transportation within the agreed timeline.
- Support the Logistics warehouse team with the release of artworks to both clients and Fine Art Shippers.
- Deliver a high level of client service to both external clients and internal departments.
- Maintain flexibility in line with seasonal business needs and pre‑arranged overtime requirements.
- Take a proactive role in problem‑solving to support the smooth and efficient execution of exhibition installations and deinstallations.
Ideal Experience & Competencies
- Proven experience in art handling.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Display a positive attitude and adhere to Sotheby's Service Standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Sheets.
- Employees in this role will be expected to have a flexible approach to work and will be required to work on selected evenings and weekends and may need to provide a level of support to other locations.
