THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly motivated Growth Manager to lead our performance marketing efforts and drive audience growth for Sotheby’s, with a strong focus on the Asia region. Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and direct experience managing marketing programs in Asia are essential for success in this role. This person will play a key role in expanding our reach and visibility through best-in-class digital strategies — adapting global playbooks to local market dynamics and unlocking growth through data, innovation, and deep platform expertise. While centered on paid media, the role also supports broader growth initiatives — including CRM, SEO, UX, and AI-related projects — making it ideal for a candidate with a holistic view of digital marketing and audience development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Audience Growth & Paid Media Strategy: Develop and execute multi-channel paid media strategies to grow Sotheby’s audience in Asia, driving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. Own campaign planning and performance across Google, Meta, Baidu, WeChat, Douyin/RED, and other high-impact platforms — operating at an agency-level of execution and fluency. Adapt Sotheby’s global marketing approach to regional dynamics, ensuring creative and targeting strategies resonate locally.
- Performance Analysis & Forecasting: Leverage advanced analytics and Excel to track, analyze, and forecast marketing performance; translate data into actionable insight and projections. Build models and dashboards that measure performance, identify trends, and guide decision-making. Run A/B tests across creative, audiences, and landing experiences to continuously improve ROI.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the key growth partner to our Specialist teams across art and luxury — working closely with Product & Tech, Creative, Social, and CRM. Bridge strategic and operational goals, helping teams understand the role and impact of paid media, while contributing to broader planning conversations. Support cross-channel projects including SEO enhancements, AI experimentation, and UX improvements.
- Innovation & Market Expansion: Stay ahead of platform trends, regional user behavior, and emerging tools to identify acquisition opportunities — particularly across China and wider Asia. Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Chinese digital ecosystem, including the ability to assess new platforms as they emerge in the luxury and art space. Test and implement innovative tactics to drive qualified traffic and unlock new audiences across the region.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Experience in a performance marketing or media agency environment, with a strong grasp of cross-channel campaign execution.
- Direct experience managing marketing programs in Asia, with deep hands-on knowledge of platforms including Google Ads, Meta Ads, Baidu, Weibo, and WeChat; RED/Douyin experience is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in tools such as Adobe Analytics, Tableau, and Facebook Business Manager.
- Advanced Excel skills, including building forecasts, analyzing trends, and modeling performance scenarios.
- Demonstrated success managing media budgets and optimizing campaigns toward acquisition and ROI goals.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across creative, product, data, and regional business units.
- Fluency in both English, Chinese and/or Mandarin (written and spoken) is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Digital Media, or a related field.
The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $85,000-$120,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
