The Role
As a member of the Sector Trading team, you will play an integral role in the investment process within the broader Equity Trading organisation. As a Sector Trader, you will perform a specialised execution function on the trading desk, helping to ensure investment decisions are implemented efficiently and effectively. You will also serve as the eyes and ears of the investment team, filtering important market colour and observations back to our global investors. Leveraging your understanding of market structure, the execution process and strong relationships with industry participants, you will help minimise trading costs and preserve the alpha created by our investors. This London-based role reports to the Head Trader for the EMEA region.

The Value You Deliver

  • Manage the daily execution of equity order flow across the EMEA region on behalf of various Fidelity funds.
  • Foster and maintain effective broker-dealer relationships to ensure access to best-in-class market intelligence and liquidity.
  • Proactively engage with Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts globally, providing subject matter expertise and relevant insights that contribute positively to the investment process.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly present to global investors on market developments, news flow, trading trends and trading desk activities.
  • Partner with internal Fidelity groups that support trading, including Technology, Compliance, Legal and Operations, to promote effective risk management practices.
  • Represent Fidelity with the highest level of integrity, fulfilling our fiduciary responsibilities to shareholders and investors.

The Experience and Skills You Bring

  • A minimum of 5 years' trading desk experience and a strong understanding of trade execution principles and investment team engagement.
  • A robust understanding of EMEA equity markets, including market structure and regulatory requirements across the region.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with global investment professionals.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach, with the ability to work effectively with peers to achieve the best outcomes for shareholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent multitasking abilities and effective prioritisation skills.
  • A solid working knowledge of trading technology and the ability to leverage a variety of trading applications and software tools effectively.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills that can be applied to the core trading desk function.
  • The ability to think creatively and independently while thriving in a collaborative environment.
  • A self-starter mindset, with the ability to develop new tools and capabilities to address novel challenges facing the trading desk.
  • A high level of integrity as you represent Fidelity and its shareholders across multiple EMEA markets.
