*Main purpose of job:* To work within a multi-disciplinary team, to provide specialist counselling support to adults and young people who have experienced rape, sexual violence, or sexual abuse.
Maintaining professionalism in the delivery of therapeutic support whilst also ensuring an empowering trauma informed approach.

SOSRC (SOS Rape Crisis) works with survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse, providing independent, specialist support and promoting and representing their rights and needs. SOSRC provides service across Southend, Castle Point and Rochford. SOSRC is a registered charity working with adults of all genders, young people and children.
*About Synergy Essex *
SOS Rape Crisis is part of SYNERGY Essex – The Essex Rape Crisis Partnership, working closely with South Essex Rape and Incest Crisis Centre (SERICC) and Centre for Action on Rape and abuse (CARA). SYNERGY Essex is funded by the Office for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex to deliver an Independent Sexual Violence Adviser
(ISVA) service to victims and survivors of sexual violence across Essex.
*Responsibilities*
* To ensure all Counselling and Emotional Support services are delivered from the Feminist perspective and the Rape Crisis Ethos and Values are upheld.
* To provide one-to-one counselling and support to adults and young people, holding a full caseload of clients.
* To adhere to SOSRC Policies and Procedures.
* To complete regular risk assessment reviews using the SAS (Safety and Support) Form with service users and feedback to the Clinical Manager as required.
* To keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy and practice issues.
* To work flexible hours, including some evening work.
* To participate in SOSRC training regarding the role.
* To keep appropriate records in accordance with SOSRC policies and procedures.
* To adhere in full to all SOSRC’s organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding procedures.
* To undertake assessments in accordance with SOSRC policies and procedures.
* To be administratively self-servicing.
* To report to the Clinical Manger or CEO as required.
* To undertake any other related activities as required by the Clinical and Counselling Manager, ISVA Manager, Children and Young Person Manager, CEO or the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
* To work as part as the wider Counselling Team within The Synergy Essex Partnership.
* To ensure that the Data Performance Management System is maintained accurately and effectively in line with GDPR.

*Person Specification*
This describes the knowledge, skills and experience required to perform the job effectively. You will be required to address each criterion when completing the application form and will be required to produce evidence, where appropriate.
*Essential *
* Diploma in Counselling, or equivalent, with a minimum of 400 counselling hours.
* Experience of working with people with mental health issues and psychological or behavioural problems.
* Experience of working therapeutically with adults and young people.
* A demonstrable understanding of feminism and gender-based violence.
* Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, both in relation to children and vulnerable adults.
* Willingness to work remotely as a lone worker, and if required different locations across Southend, Castle Point and Rochford.
* Willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings.
* The proven ability to work on own initiative, manage a varied workload and prioritise competing demands.
* Demonstrable understanding of the necessity for keeping and maintaining confidential records inline with SOSRC policies and procedures.
* Proven ability to work as part of a team.
* Good interpersonal skills and experience of working with a range of people from different backgrounds.
* Excellent written, oral and communication skills.
* Full competency of computer systems, including Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain accurate database records.

* Membership of BACP or UKCP.
