About the role
This Data Architect position is a pivotal strategic role responsible for defining, governing and evolving the enterprise data architecture across International SOS's platforms and products. This role ensures that data assets are well‑modelled, governed and positioned to deliver actionable insight – driving International SOS's mission through scalable, trusted and high‑quality data. You will shape modern data platforms, models and standards that enable analytics, operational excellence and AI readiness across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Enforce data architectural guidelines and consistency across development teams and services.
- Support established Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks, including tooling, policy enforcement and stewardship models.
- Ensure robust metadata management, lineage tracking and data cataloguing using business glossaries and modern catalog tools.
- Review and approve data architecture for major features, platforms and technical initiatives.
- Collaborate with technical leads and DevOps on system scalability, performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain enterprise‑wide data architecture roadmap translating strategic data ambitions into actionable deliverables.
- Drive the adoption of data architecture principles and standards across engineering and product teams through review boards and governance forums.
- Conduct architecture assessments and identify opportunities to rationalise, consolidate, or modernise the data estate.
- Coach and mentor engineers and data practitioners on data design, modelling best practices and architectural trade‑offs.
- Produce and maintain high‑quality architecture documentation including data architecture decisions records (ADRs), data flow diagrams and domain maps.
- Collaborate with data science and analytics teams to enable effective model deployment, feature engineering, and ML data readiness.
- Promote a culture of data literacy and data‑driven decision‑making across the organisation.
About you
- Solid experience in data architecture, data engineering or a closely related role.
- Experience of designing enterprise‑grade cloud platforms (AWS preferred) (Redshift, S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Athena). Databricks and Snowflake are an advantage.
- Expertise in data warehousing and lakehouse technologies (e.g., Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg).
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, CDC, event streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka/Kinesis) and API‑based integrations.
- Experience operating enterprise data governance programmes, including data stewardship, policy frameworks and data quality management.
- Knowledge of MDM principles and familiarity with GDPR / CCPA.
- Familiarity with analytics platforms such as Power BI or Amazon QuickSight and exposure to Gen AI Platforms.
- Experience or enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
- Able to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly and influence diverse technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
