Candidate Qualifications:
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in ASL
- Ability to pass our skills assessment
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- Interpreter certification
- 3 years' interpreting experience preferred but not required
- Ability to travel independently within the metropolitan area, with access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance
Job Snapshot:
Sorenson Communications seeks part-time Deaf and hearing interpreters to provide high-quality services across multiple locations. Hours will align with community demand. Applicants must demonstrate excellent language skills in ASL and English and provide excellent customer service. All applicants must pass a skills screening.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret effectively between ASL and spoken English (hearing interpreters)
- Interpret between ASL, Tactile ASL, other visual communication forms, and written English (Deaf interpreters)
- Follow Sorenson policies, procedures, and NAD-RID Code of Conduct
- Provide excellent customer service professionally and respectfully
- Work effectively with colleagues and support team members
- Meet performance and customer service expectations with minimal supervision
- Continue education and training to enhance skills
- Maintain compliance with licensure and certification requirements
- Maintain a flexible schedule to meet community needs
- Work effectively in diverse, fast-paced environments
- Adhere to attendance requirements
- Represent Sorenson professionally in the field
- Mentor interns when appropriate
