Sorbon Estates is a privately owned, multi-award-winning commercial property investor and developer with an established track record of enhancing both properties and their surrounding environments.

We take pride in our diverse, continually evolving portfolio and our long-term approach to property investment, development and asset management.

As part of the Shanly Group, we have built a reputation for entrepreneurial thinking, high-quality properties and creating lasting value through property investment and development.

We are seeking a commercially minded and experienced finance professional to join our team as Head of Finance.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead the finance function and act as a trusted business partner across the organisation.

This is a broad and commercially focused role, extending beyond traditional financial reporting. You will work closely with colleagues across acquisition, development, leasing and asset management, providing financial insight and challenge to support sound decision-making and the performance of the portfolio.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and meaningful management information.
  • Prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts and long-term business plans.
  • Analyse portfolio performance, identifying opportunities to enhance returns, reduce risk and unlock value.
  • Provide financial oversight and challenge across leasing, investment, development and refurbishment projects.
  • Support acquisitions from initial appraisal through to completion.
  • Review development appraisals, project viability, build costs and programme assumptions, ensuring investment decisions are commercially sound.
  • Oversee financial planning, banking relationships and covenant management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting and business processes.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, helping teams improve performance, accountability and commercial awareness.

About you

You are likely to be an experienced finance professional operating as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar, ideally within a property-focused environment.

You will bring:

  • Experience within property investment, development, asset management or the wider real estate sector. Alternatively, experience within a multi-site organisation such as retail, hospitality, healthcare or leisure, with responsibility for income-generating assets, billing and revenue streams, occupier or customer charge structures and property operating costs.
  • A strong understanding of the financial management of real estate assets, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, capital expenditure and operational cost control.
  • A recognised accountancy qualification and the ability to translate financial information into practical commercial decisions.
  • Experience supporting property transactions, acquisitions, leasing activity or asset management initiatives.
  • A strong understanding of property finance, taxation, VAT and investment appraisal.
  • Strong analytical skills and the confidence to provide constructive challenge where appropriate.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.
  • A commercially minded approach, with the ability to look beyond the numbers and understand the wider drivers of business performance.

What we offer in return

  • A fulfilling culture built around long-term investment and a commitment to excellence, where we encourage innovation, embrace problem-solving and initiative, uphold a strong work ethic and drive continuous improvement.
  • An impressive, modern office in the heart of beautiful Beaconsfield Old Town, surrounded by cafés, restaurants and shops, with excellent road links just off the M40 and a 10-minute walk from Beaconsfield train station.
  • The opportunity to join a privately owned business with the financial strength and stability of an established company, while retaining an entrepreneurial and long-term approach.
  • Competitive salary and car allowance.
  • Discretionary annual and long-term bonus schemes.
  • Annual leave starting at 25 days, increasing to 30 days.
  • Enhanced pension scheme through salary exchange.
  • Free private medical insurance and life assurance.
  • A range of wellbeing benefits, including free weekly fitness sessions, an on-demand GP service, gym discounts and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Discount scheme offering savings across a range of sectors.
