THE ROLE
Within the Finance department, we’re looking for a Head of Finance (12-month maternity-leave cover) who will steer our group’s financial strategy end-to-end - partnering with the CEO and senior leadership, delivering crystal-clear reporting and analysis, safeguarding cashflow, and empowering a high-performing finance team to drive smart, scalable growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the CEO and SMT to provide financial insight and support decision-making
- Preparation of the consolidated monthly group management accounts
- Monthly P&L reporting, with commentary and variance analysis to facilitate understanding by the owners & SMT on group performance
- Maintain forecasts and weekly/monthly KPI reporting
- Oversee payroll, VAT returns, month end journals, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Responsible for the monthly sales commissions
- Lead cost control initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies
- Overseeing annual statutory reporting, including liaising with external advisors
- Treasury and cashflow management, reporting and forecasting
- Financial analysis to aid key commercial decision making across areas such as recruitment, marketing & IT spend
- Maintain a high level of financial procedures and controls whilst ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and tax requirements
- Manage & support the finance team as well as representing finance at internal meetings, whilst helping to approve financial literacy across departments
- Lead by example to develop an environment of trust, maturity and positivity within the workplace, ensuring a motivated and happy team
ABOUT YOU
- 5+ years post qualification experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, management accounting, and cash flow forecasting
- Proficient with financial software (ideally Xero) and strong excel/data analysis skills
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
- Experience in SMEs, ideally with exposure to scaling businesses or private equity environments
- Self-starter with ability to improve existing processes
