Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Wintel

Sopra Steria is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer focused on Wintel to play a key role in shaping and supporting the technology that underpins our clients’ success. You’ll bring deep expertise in infrastructure technologies and a clear understanding of the latest industry developments and future strategies.

What you will be doing

• Provide technical support for Windows Server environments (2012/2019/2022).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex server, network, and infrastructure issues within agreed SLA’s.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows services.
• Perform server patching, upgrades, and maintenance in line with security and compliance standards.
• Monitor system performance and implement improvements to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Work with 1st and 2nd line support teams to escalated and resolve incidents within agreed SLA’s.
• Maintain and update documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
• Assist in disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Support virtualization technologies (VMware).
• Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and best practices.
• Assist in project planning and execution for infrastructure upgrades and migrations, working with Architects and Project Managers.

What you will bring

• Working knowledge of Windows Server administration.
• Experience managing and administering Active Directory.
• Proven experience providing IT support in an enterprise environment.
• Familiarity with IT Service Management systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Hands‑on experience with virtualization technologies.

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Salisbury or Portsmouth – on-site

Security Clearance Level: holding SC or eligible for SC clearance, willing to undertake DV clearance

Salary: £42k-£52k

Benefits: 25 days annual leave with the option to buy additional days, health cash plan, life assurance, pension, and generous flexible benefits fund (3% of base salary).
