We have a unique opportunity for a Project Engineer to work with leading edge technology within the Aerospace sector, located in the Broughton area. In this role, you’ll work with the Manufacturing Engineering Lead and collaborate with a multi-functional team on innovative R&T projects. Your initial focus will be on mechanical design using CATIA V5 and 3DX, tooling, and DFMEA, contributing to groundbreaking innovations in the industry.

What you will be doing:
- Engage with manufacturing/R&T engineers, internal suppliers, and external industry/academic partners.
- Work closely with business units, program managers, and value streams to mature technologies to preproduction level.
- Mechanical Design Refinement, enhance existing designs for feasibility, including Jig and Tool, gantry, and interface details.
- Conduct accessibility studies for manual drilling/assembly, analyse robotic reachability, and propose design adaptations.
- Perform FEA analysis to make sure safety and efficiency.
- Support safety reviews and adapt designs to meet company standards.
- Define component placement for stations, including control cabinets, HMIs, and tool change systems.
- 3D mechanical designs for small robot stations.
- Estimate non-recurring costs (NRCs), support budget planning, and ensure timely project execution.
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict project deadlines.
What you’ll bring:
- Expertise in Mechanical Design, strong foundation in R&T environments, with hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Proficiency in Design tools, skilled in CATIA V5 and 3DX, read and interpret engineering drawings, models and BoM.
- Holistic value stream knowledge, understanding of the full lifecycle—from materials to design to part manufacturing and testing.
- Analytical & Research skills, ability to bring together insights from diverse sources and translate data into actionable intelligence.
- Technical familiarity of PFMEA, DFMEA, and FEA for optimising designs and processes.
- Documentation and communication, capable of writing manuals and delivering high-quality presentations using Google Suite, to all stakeholders.
It would be great if you had:
- Experience of robotic manufacturing cells.
- Hands-On industry expertise in a production/industrial environment, with a track record of implementing new technology solutions from first principles.
- Technical Qualification, Degree or equivalent experience in engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Innovative attitude, not afraid to challenge the status quo, bringing fresh ideas, and drive meaningful change.
- Effective communicator, skilled in stakeholder management, with the ability to clearly convey ideas and foster collaboration.

We operate a hybrid working principle, so the role could partially be worked from UK home as well as being delivered on Client and CIMPA sites, with regular visits to site as needed. Travel may be required.
