We're looking for an ambitious graduate or early-career professional who is keen to build a career in Risk Management within a financial services environment. You will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to question and challenge information in a constructive and professional manner.
You may already have some experience working in a risk, compliance, governance, audit, operational controls, or financial services role, but more importantly, you will be eager to learn, develop your expertise, and take ownership of your responsibilities.
Operating strictly within the Second Line of Defence (2LoD), you will play a vital role in protecting our business and customers. You will work closely with senior leaders to independently monitor, analyse, and challenge the risk-taking activities across our front-office and operational teams. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious graduate or early-career professional to gain deep exposure to risk governance, financial regulations (FCA/PRA), and strategic decision-making.
This is a hybrid variable role requiring 2 days per week presence in either our Blackpool, Durham, Newcastle or Glasgow offices.
What you will be doing:
- Risk Monitoring: Support the management of risks, issues and actions through Governance, Risk and Compliance.
- Monitor & Challenge: Review Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and provide constructive challenge to first-line teams regarding risk exposures, control effectiveness and remediation activities.
- Risk Governance Reporting: Collect, analyse and interpret risk data to produce meaningful management information (MI), dashboards and reporting packs for senior leaders and governance forums.
- Regulatory Alignment: Assist in assessing the impact of regulatory developments and industry best practice, ensuring risk management activities remain aligned to applicable requirements, including Consumer Duty principles.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective working relationships with operational and support functions, providing guidance and support on risk policies, frameworks and risk management best practice.
- Professional Development: Maintain and develop risk management knowledge and skills, including working towards a recognised professional qualification such as those offered by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) or equivalent professional bodies
What you’ll bring:
- 2.1 or above graduate with an interest in Risk Management and financial services regulation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in working with stakeholders across different areas of the business.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to agreed deadlines.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- A commitment to continuous professional development, including working towards a recognised risk management qualification (e.g. Institute of Risk Management (IRM) Certificate/Diploma or equivalent) within an agreed timeframe.
If you are interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we’re looking for, please do apply, we’d love to hear from you!
