Are you an IT enthusiast looking for a platform to grow your career? Sopra Steria’s Aerospace Defence and Security sector are currently recruiting for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing team supporting a key client in the aerospace industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with a background in some area of IT looking to build a career working on complex infrastructures using modern, industry standard technologies. Ideally you will have some existing IT experience in Service Analysis or IT Support with a passion for delivering high levels of service.

This role will be initially based out of our office in Newport with some flexibility for hybrid working as you learn and develop. Due to our contractual agreement with the client, we are only able to progress with candidates eligible for SC clearance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist the infrastructure team, managing incidents, requests, changes and problems.
  • Actively monitor infrastructure health, performance, and availability using monitoring tools.
  • Administer systems based on Windows (Virtual and Physical), ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Support server environments and estates, including patching for Windows, VMWare and Citrix.
  • Maintenance and production of technical documentation to facilitate knowledge share and skills development.

What you’ll bring:

  • A basic understanding of On Prem IT Infrastructure.
  • Some experience or familiarity with Windows Servers, VMware, or similar virtualisation.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, critical for coordinating with multi-site teams.
  • Passionate about building a career within Infrastructure, and IT systems management in a dynamic, multi-location environment.
