Sopra Steria is delivering a major greenfield programme for the Defence sector, building and integrating infrastructure and applications within highly secure environments. This is a rare opportunity to support the rollout of nationally significant IT systems across multiple UK sites, where the work you do directly contributes to outcomes that matter.

You will join a team of technical specialists responsible for deploying IT systems, infrastructure components, and end-user devices across secure Defence environments. Working closely with the Project Manager and Team Lead, you will play a key role in site deployments, technical implementation, integration, testing, and ongoing support. This is a hands-on role involving extensive UK travel in line with the project delivery plan, including regular overnight stays where required. The role is based from Hertfordshire.

What you will be doing:

  • Deploy, configure, and validate hardware and software across server, network, storage, and desktop environments.
  • Carry out site-based implementation activities, including installation, integration, testing, and performance checks.
  • Provide second- and third-line support, including fault identification, triage, resolution, and escalation in line with SLAs.
  • Administer, maintain, and improve secure IT environments to support performance, availability, and operational readiness.
  • Deliver technical tasks in line with project plans, site schedules, governance standards, and delivery procedures.
  • Produce clear deployment records, test evidence, end-user guidance, and operational documentation.

What you will bring:

  • Strong infrastructure engineering experience across hardware deployment, endpoint installation, core services, and technical support.
  • Experience deploying or supporting infrastructure across server, network, storage, and desktop environments.
  • Proven fault-finding, diagnosis, and resolution skills across complex IT environments.
  • Ability to work independently across UK sites while supporting successful delivery of small to medium-sized IT projects.
  • Experience working to tight SLAs, project timelines, and high customer service standards.
  • Understanding of secure installation standards and UK Government compliance requirements, such as JSPs, SCIDA/CIDA, or TEMPEST.

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience supporting site deployments, rollouts, hardware refreshes, or infrastructure transformation programmes.
  • Exposure to Wintel, VMware, networking, storage, backup, monitoring, or endpoint management technologies.
