Are you ready to build the future of IT services with a world-class team?
We’re looking for a motivated Graduate Network Engineer to join our exceptional team at SSCL, supporting the transformation of Defence Business Services through world-class digital solutions.
As a Network Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality services to our Government and Defence clients, while gaining hands-on experience and benefiting from structured training and development.
This role is hybrid, you will be based onsite in Glasgow 2 days a week with willingness to travel Gosport. Once fully trained you will be expected to be part of the Out of Hours On Call cover. There will be no pressure on the timelines for you joining the rota within the first 12 months.
What you will be doing:
- Collaborating with multi-functional teams to define and implement network requirements.
- Providing updates on incident progress to partners and customers.
- Identifying, documenting, and raising known issues.
- Monitoring incident queues using ITSM tools for example ServiceNow.
- Monitoring and optimising network infrastructure performance.
- Administering IT resources such as users, network QoS, site security, telecoms, and applications.
- Working within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Reporting regularly on progress to Team Leaders and Managers.
What you’ll bring:
- Eligibility to obtain DV (Developed Vetting) clearance.
- Recently graduated in a degree or equivalent experience in Networking, IT, or a related field.
- Experience or strong academic knowledge in routing and switching (offices and data centres).
- Understanding of data centre operations.
- Awareness of network performance monitoring and optimisation.
- Ideally holding or working towards CCNP certification.
It would be great if you had:
- Some experience or exposure to Fortigate/FortiWeb firewalls.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow and SolarWinds.
- An understanding of cloud automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
