Newly created opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our growing central accounting function. You will join a small team supporting the UK Accounting Controller in the completion of critical central accounting functions for the UK entities of Sopra Steria. The UK Accounting team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of UK reporting for both Group and Local Statutory requirements, monthly, quarterly and annually. This includes providing technical accounting advice to the UK Accounting teams. The UK Accounting Team also includes UK treasury and pensions management. This is a hybrid variable role requiring office presence in our London office a couple of times per month.

What you will be doing:

  • Completion of the UK external audit for both Group reporting and local statutory accounts including an interim review
  • Management of the responses to the external audit queries
  • Ensuring compliance with Group rules relating to finance, maintaining accounting policies
  • Ensuring process documents are maintained and updated
  • Ensuring Group controls are adhered to
  • Be an active member of reviews for revenue recognition for customer contracts
  • Be a technical accounting advisor to the UK finance community
  • Responsibilities for the month end close process and review of results including analytical reviews (P&L and Balance Sheet)

What you’ll bring:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA Qualified accountant, preferably with an audit background and experience of preparing/reviewing UK statutory accounts.
  • Experienced in UK statutory reporting, audit and technical accounting.
  • Excellent technical accounting skills, ideally with a focus on revenue recognition.
  • Self-motivated and diligent as well as professional behaviours, self-starter who is able to see tasks through to conclusion
  • Oracle system experience desirable but not essential
  • Controls design and monitoring would also be desirable.
