Deputy Shift Leader

Sopra Steria are recruiting a Deputy Shift Leader to support the Shift Leader with their daily responsibilities and be a second point of contact for any complex issues for the high performing team of Operators. In the Shift Leaders absence, you will assume their full responsibilities, with the exception of line management responsibilities, such as completing 1-2-1s.
Our team provide a dedicated 24/7 service and operate on a rotating shift pattern six on and four off. This includes a variety of shifts to support a great work-life balance, made up of two early shifts (06:00 – 14:30), two late shifts (13:30 – 23:00) and two night shifts (21:00 – 06:00).
Car commuters will find Quinton Business Park easily accessible as it is situated close to the M5, but with the varied start times and remote location of the office, it\’s advised that only applicants with their own mode of transport should apply.
What you\’ll be doing:

• Providing support and guidance to the team members on your shift.
• Supporting the Shift Leader with any of their daily tasks and responsibilities.
• Provide cover for Shift Leader assuming all their responsibilities, not including line management tasks with the team.
• Fulfil the responsibilities of a Strategic Control Room Operator whenever supporting tasks for the Shift Leader isn\’t required.

What you\’ll bring:

• Knowledge of the National Highways Strategic road network
• A solid understanding of Strategic Traffic Management procedures and systems used within the Information Centre
• Confident communication skills, both verbal and written, that you can adapt depending on your audience.
• The ability to effectively manage your time and work within critical timelines.

It would be great if you had:

• Experience of shift work/unsociable hours
