Sopra Steria is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to drive growth across our Public Safety Group (PSG), Oracle capability and wider Aerospace, Defence and Security business. This is a senior, target-driven role focused on identifying, developing and qualifying new business opportunities across the UK public sector. You will build a strong and sustainable sales pipeline, develop trusted relationships with existing and prospective clients, and shape compelling propositions across a broad range of technology and transformation services.
Working closely with sales, account, technology and delivery teams, you will play a key role in delivering PSG’s growth strategy and positioning Sopra Steria as a trusted partner across policing, the Home Office and wider homeland security market.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and execute business development plans that support the PSG, Oracle and wider sector growth strategies, generating a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Identify, engage and develop prospective clients, building trusted senior-level relationships across UK policing, the Home Office and homeland security organisations.
- Qualify opportunities and work collaboratively with sales and account teams to ensure they are effectively transitioned through the sales and bidding process.
- Manage and accurately forecast your individual sales pipeline, maintaining an appropriate mix of prospects, qualified opportunities and firm proposals.
- Shape customer-focused value propositions, competitive strategies and proposals that address client requirements and support agreed order targets.
- Represent Sopra Steria in the market, sharing customer and competitor intelligence while collaborating across internal teams, technology partners and external stakeholders.
What you will bring:
- Significant experience in a senior business development, sales or long-cycle sales role within the UK public sector.
- Strong knowledge of the policing, Home Office, public safety or wider homeland security market.
- A proven track record of developing prospects, generating qualified pipeline and converting complex opportunities into new business.
- Strong commercial and technical understanding of digital, technology, managed services or transformation solutions.
- Excellent relationship-building, influencing and communication skills, with experience engaging senior customer and internal stakeholders.
- The ability to operate independently, think strategically, manage competing priorities and take accountability for delivering against challenging sales targets.
It would be great if you had:
- Previous business development or sales experience specifically within the UK policing market.
- Knowledge of Oracle, Salesforce, ServiceNow, police contact centre solutions or similar technologies used within policing and public safety.
- Experience working with strategic technology partners and developing joint go-to-market propositions or sector growth plans.
