Overview
We are seeking a Head of Logistics to lead Sopra Steria’s Defence logistics capability.
You will shape and grow our proposition while driving the execution of the Go-to-Market strategy for Logistics and Engineering Support Services. Operating at the forefront of UK Defence, you will bring strategic leadership, commercial acumen, and innovative thinking to deliver large-scale logistics solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and enable sustainable growth.
Sopra Steria has a long pedigree and strong footprint in Defence across the UK and Europe, and we want to do more. We have exciting ambitions to be at the heart of transforming Defence and to bring our capabilities in Digital, Technology, and Data to clients.
This is a hybrid role with travel to the South of England.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the strategy for Sopra Steria’s Logistics and Engineering Support Service offering within the ADS/Defence sector, including budget management, roadmap planning, route to market, customer engagement, marketing initiatives, timelines, and revenue delivery.
- Lead the design of service propositions, with appropriate technical input, including pricing strategy, value-added services, and innovative approaches.
- Develop differentiated and innovative offers across Sopra Steria capabilities and partner networks, identifying and creating opportunities for intellectual property development.
- Establish management information and performance measures to track success, support continuous improvement, and ensure operational excellence.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, both externally with customers and partners, and internally across ADS and the wider Sopra Steria organisation, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic growth objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience in managing complex, large-scale logistics operations across supply chain, warehousing, transport, and inventory.
- In-depth knowledge of the UK Defence logistics marketplace.
- Proven track record of leading logistics operations within the Armed Forces, MoD, or wider Defence sector.
- Experience in developing complex business cases with strong attention to detail, quality, and commercial outcomes.
- Established networks and connections within the Defence sector.
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels, including C-suite stakeholders, with credibility and gravitas.
- Collaborative leadership style with excellent interpersonal skills.
Desirable
- Previous experience as OF4 or SEOB2 (or higher) in Logistics, Engineering, or Equipment Support within the UK MoD or Armed Forces.
- Knowledge of the key suppliers of logistics, asset management, engineering software, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions.
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience in Business, IT, or Engineering.
- Experience in service or product development processes.
