Overview
Sopra Steria are recruiting a Strategic Control Room Operator to join our Network Traffic Information Services project. The role is responsible for monitoring the National Highway strategic road network, providing information in response to live events, and delivering accurate, up-to-date traffic information as part of a 24/7 service. The team operates on a rotating shift pattern six on and four off, with two early shifts (06:00 – 14:30), two late shifts (13:30 – 23:00) and two night shifts (21:00 – 06:30).
Quinton Business Park is situated close to the M5; due to varied start times and the remote location, applicants should have their own transport.
Responsibilities
- Analysing and assessing the information received about live incidents occurring on the UK road networks.
- Creating and monitoring these events on the National Traffic Information Service (NTIS) system.
- Supporting with the setting of Variable Message Signs across the Strategic Road Network.
- Working closely with a network of colleagues and third parties to keep them up to date with the latest reports about each incident.
Qualifications
- Experience as an Administrator with excellent customer service skills; a background in customer service with a focus on administration, data entry or telephony experience.
- Confident communication skills, both verbal and written, adaptable to different audiences.
- Ability to effectively manage time and work within critical timelines.
- A methodical approach and a strong commitment to accuracy and getting things right first time.

Salary and benefits
Salary: £26,000 per annum
