Overview

Senior Category Manager, NHS Shared Business Services (NHSSBS).

Lead a high-performing team and own a key sub-category within the Digital & IT portfolio, including frameworks such as Digital Dictation 2, Patient Communications 2, Audio Visual, and Intelligent Automation.

Shape and deliver strategic sourcing initiatives across the client base, delivering outcomes in critical markets.

Contribute to healthcare system improvements and community impact.

The organisation has launched a £900m AI procurement framework for NHS and public sector organisations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of buyers at different levels.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term category strategies.
  • Analyse data to identify cost savings and process improvements.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects and coordinate with stakeholders to influence procurement decisions, drive savings, efficiencies, and quality improvements.
  • Provide procurement support to the Customer Service Directorates, Heads of Procurement, and key leaders on a national footprint.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure comprehensive coverage of product, service, and stakeholder needs within the category.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 CIPS qualification (or working towards), or an equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive background in public sector procurement.
  • Strong understanding of the Public Contracts Regulations (PCR) 2015, PA23, and related policies; mentorship experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing direct reports and developing team capabilities.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple programmes and develop collaborative relationship management with NHS and public sector suppliers.
  • Experience leading complex projects and programmes with resilience to navigate challenges and drive results.
