Job Overview

Do you have experience in procurement/tendering? NHS Shared Business Services is looking for an enthusiastic and inquisitive procurement professional to join our Strategic Procurement Team. The role will lead and manage multiple procurement projects across Health, Construction and Estates, Business Services, and Digital & IT categories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement projects (scoping, pre‑tendering, tendering, selection, evaluation, moderation, and potential contract negotiation).
  • Provide high‑quality, customer‑focused procurement and service‑design advice to external customers.
  • Support the team in delivery of projects and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with internal collaborators and external customers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the customer and demonstrate knowledge of the NHS and its strategic goals.
  • Generate opportunities for future work through professional networking across the NHS and wider public sector.
  • Conduct horizon scanning to identify development and new opportunities for existing and new customers.
  • Ensure all project documents and files are managed, retained correctly, and available for audit.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience delivering procurement projects in the public sector/NHS.
  • Knowledge of NHS procurement processes and legal regulations.
  • Demonstrable experience in procurement activity, tendering, and contract negotiation.
  • Experience managing tendering projects and framework call‑offs.
  • Working knowledge of e‑sourcing software.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to take ownership of work and meet agreed objectives while adhering to governance processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in procurement (e.g. MCIPS) or a strong desire to obtain one.

Employment Details

Employment Type: Full‑time Permanent.

Location: Hybrid role requiring travel to the NW hub in Salford up to once a month; customer sites may be visited as required.

Security Clearance Level: DBS.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: Up to £40,000.

25 days annual leave with the option to purchase additional days.
