Are you looking for a part-time role where your attention to detail, customer focus and organisational skills can make a real impact on the experience of thousands of employees? As a Payroll Administrator, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of an accurate and efficient payroll and pensions service for approximately 6,500 employees. Working within the dynamic People Hub, you'll help ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time while providing excellent customer service to employees, managers and stakeholders. This is a part-time permanent opportunity, offering 22.5 hours per week across 3, 4 or 5 days, with hybrid working and attendance onsite up to 3 times per week in the Newcastle office.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Processing payroll administration activities including new starters, employment changes, terminations, ad-hoc payments and deductions.
  • Maintaining accurate employee payroll records and ensuring payroll data is updated correctly within payroll systems.
  • Supporting pension administration activities, employee benefit deductions and statutory payment processes in line with HMRC guidelines.
  • Managing payroll-related queries from employees and managers, delivering a professional and customer-focused service.
  • Processing legislative payroll documentation, including tax, student loan and court order updates where required.
  • Building effective working relationships across the People Hub to support the successful delivery of payroll services.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and data.
  • High levels of numeracy and literacy, including GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent) at Grade A-C/9-4.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach with experience delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience working within a payroll, pensions, HR or finance environment.

Employment Type: Part-time (22.5hours pw) perm.

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid).

Salary: £28,000-30,000 pa (Full time equivalent)
