Are you a VMware specialist with a background in Infrastructure Engineering at scale? Sopra Steria's Aerospace Defence and Security sector are looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to support a large-scope project building a new environment for key defence clients with an “Automation first” mindset. The role is on-site in Farnborough and requires DV clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of VMware vSphere administration.
  • Manage ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters, and resource pools.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain hyper‑converged storage environments.
  • Automate using PowerCLI scripting, template creation, and automated provisioning.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience in VMware vSphere administration, managing ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters, and resource pools.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain vSAN hyper‑converged storage environments.
  • Configure HA/DRS for resilient clusters with high availability, distributed resource scheduling, and failover planning.
  • Strong understanding of VMware networking: vSwitches, distributed switches, VLANs, port groups, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with VMware Horizon VDI environments, image management, and application delivery (desirable).
