Are you ready to lead a team that plays a vital role in protecting personal data and ensuring individuals' rights are upheld? We're looking for a Data Protection Team Leader to join our friendly and collaborative team supporting Right of Access Requests (RAR) on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). You'll be part of a close-knit, knowledgeable, and supportive group where every day is a learning day, and where strong working relationships—with both colleagues and clients—are at the heart of what we do.
This role is based in our Newcastle office, with 2 days per week on-site (currently Mondays and Wednesdays) and the flexibility to work remotely for the rest of the week. What you'll be doing:
- Leading, monitoring, and quality-checking Right of Access Requests to meet strict legal and service-level requirements.
- Supporting Team Leaders and Administrative Officers with queries and escalations.
- Overseeing the logging, acknowledging, filing, and end-to-end handling of RARs and Information Requests.
- Contacting named individuals or teams to gather required documentation within set data ranges.
- Ensuring accurate filing, record keeping, and version control for all RAR responses.
- Working closely with colleagues in Newport and across SSCL to coordinate document management and ensure timely delivery.

- Experience coaching or supporting colleagues as part of their development.
