Following the successful launch of Sopra Steria Financial Services, a regulated entity in 2021, the business continues to grow in size; with a particular focus on developing and building a collections-based business. The business itself has grown exponentially since its launch, now supporting both government and commercial based clients through a team of around 40 colleagues.

As a member of the wider Shared Services Risk Management team, you’ll support developing a culture which is both customer and outcome obsessed by defining, developing and delivering practices that drive positive outcomes.

You’ll play a key role in leading and supporting the implementation and strengthening of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and supporting risk frameworks and policies. You’ll play a key role in enhancing and enabling the overall service using:

  • Industry and regulatory expertise in Risk Management / Risk Frameworks in order to:
  • Maximise data (analytics, performance measures, external benchmarks) in order to;
  • Maximise our operational efficiency (Risk monitoring and reporting) and;
  • Improving customer experience (through feedback, insight into the products and propositions, and development of a customer journey focused RCSA) and then;
  • Coordinating oversight of the required change (through pilots, projects and programmes)

You’ll already have experience in relation to Risk Management and be used to operating within three lines of defence model. Achieving key targets and KRI’s will be second nature to you, however our belief is that you’ll do this through developing and engaging teams in the right way, which is why you will also thrive on making things better not only for customers, but our colleagues working for us; ultimately striving to deliver top quartile employee engagement scores.

This is a hybrid variable role requiring weekly onsite presence in our Newcastle Upon Tyne Office.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop, review and coordinate implementation of the Risk Management strategy (including policy, standards and framework)
  • Develop and own the account and risk governance framework within the Chennai operations.
  • Build strong and purposeful relationships with key stakeholders across Sopra Steria and the client and assess best practise and become a trusted partner.
  • Develop and implement control testing across all controls and ensure any improvement actions or newly identified controls are effectively designed, implemented and operating as intended.
  • Be seen as a customer centric role model across the business, promoting the importance of a can-do attitude.
  • Contribute to motivating, supporting, inspiring and coaching the Debt Management team to deliver exceptional levels of customer experience and performance, ensuring all KPI’s, Critical SLA’s and targets are achieved without compromise to quality and poor customer outcomes.
  • Ensure we do the right thing by our client, customers and colleagues whilst ensuring we actively mitigate risk within the operation, measured through RCSA and periodic audits.
  • Work with internal audit, compliance, legal and operational teams to strengthen governance as required, also ensuring any remediation.
  • Ensure the spirit of regulation is upheld across the business and always promoting strong and fair customer outcomes are achieved.
  • Support the deepening of relationships across NS&I and other Sopra Steria Financial Services clients.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong understanding of Risk Management Framework principles within a Financial Services organisation.
  • Strong understanding of Operational Risk principles within a Financial Services organisation.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to process and summarise large volumes of complex data from multiple sources and present it in an insightful and compelling way that enables decision making.
  • Strong customer experience focus – able to develop and deliver step change in performance.
  • Management of senior stakeholders in both a client and multi supplier model.
  • People skills with the ability to engage, communicate and influence others.
  • Commercially aware – understands the importance of balancing stakeholder/client/customer and business needs.
  • Thrives in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Solution driven – always looks to provide solutions in an efficient and timely manner.

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Security Clearance Level: SC clearance

Salary: Up to £60k depending on experience
