The Role
We're looking for a Junior Management Accountant to join our successful team in our Borehamwood office on a hybrid basis following a successful probationary period.
This is a varied client-facing accounting role where you'll support a portfolio of clients across bookkeeping, VAT reporting and management accounts. You'll be responsible for reviewing bookkeeping records, ensuring bookkeeping and VAT returns are completed within agreed timelines and preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts from core financial records.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, including relevant analysis and designated reports.
- Review bookkeeping records and ensure they are complete and accurate before being passed to the Accounts team.
- Complete bookkeeping and VAT reporting to a high standard and maintain accurate client records.
- Prepare management accounts from core financial records for an allocated portfolio of clients.
- Complete month-end and quarter-end adjustments and reconciliations.
- Prepare and maintain prepayments, accruals, depreciation, accrued income and deferred income.
- Prepare cashflow reports and forecasts where required.
- Prepare ad hoc reports for clients as required.
- Perform payment runs where required.
- Support clients and managers with additional accounting work and requests.
- Maintain accurate client files and documentation in accordance with Sopher + Co standards.
- Keep up to date with developments in accounting, taxation and relevant accounting software.
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times in accordance with Sopher + Co policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the team and wider firm to ensure client work is completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is keen to build a long-term career in accounting and finance. This could be your first role after graduating with an Accounting, Finance or related degree, or you may already have some experience and be looking for your first or second step within the profession.
You’ll be motivated to learn, develop your technical skills and gain valuable experience across a range of accounting work. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, curious and committed to building a successful career in accountancy, with the support and development opportunities to help you progress.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Either studying or a desire to study AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA.
