SOOSHI is looking for an Assistant Sushi Chef to join our fast-paced sushi takeaway team at Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay. As part of our kitchen and front-of-house team, you will assist with the daily preparation and production of our freshly made Japanese cuisine, as well as stock management, customer service, and general cleaning duties. Experience is preferred but not essential; full training will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing fresh ingredients (e.g. cutting fish, slicing vegetables, portioning ingredients)
  • Assisting with sushi production (rolling, plating, packaging, and basic cooking)
  • Taking customer orders and serving customers
  • Stock checking and helping maintain smooth daily shop operations
  • General cleaning and maintaining hygiene standards
  • Stock management

Requirements:

  • Punctual, responsible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently
  • Interested in Japanese cuisine and willing to learn
  • Kitchen experience is a bonus, but not required
  • Available to work weekends and/or evening shifts preferred

Working Hours:

  • Part-time or full-time positions available
  • Flexible shifts
  • Day Shift: 10:30am - 4:30pm
  • Night Shift: 4:30pm - 10:30pm

Pay: National Minimum Wage or above depending on experience
