This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to progress their career. The PQA Department is looking for an individual with strong Quality thinking across a broad electromechanical skillset to fulfil multiple roles within the Parts Quality Engineering (PQE) section; from overseeing everyday electromechanical parts and assembly quality issues on the factory floor, to acting as a liaison between suppliers and/or customers. The successful candidate will also look at improving process standards by using data collected from operations and applying structured problem-solving techniques. The individual must be able to comply with different regulatory standards; therefore, they will need to study and become familiar with Sony Standards, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality standards applicable to our business needs. Training will be provided where required, and continuous development and support are offered within the PQA Group.
Responsibilities
- Effectively interpret customer specifications, requirements, electromechanical drawing and schematic.
- Drive quality improvement activities, including the selection of appropriate quality tools/techniques.
- Provide quality communication to customers and suppliers technical knowledge.
- Assist in developing, driving, and improving KPIs such as scrap, rework, customer returns, and performance.
- Plan and carry out internal audits, reporting and analysing results, and assisting with corrective and preventative actions; compiling summary reports on audit activity and effectiveness.
- Carry out reviews and reporting on non-conformance data for repeated issues using specialist quality techniques, presentation, and analysis tools.
- Support the creation, maintenance, and review of electromechanical inspection standards and test criteria.
- Understand the requirements of Quality Assurance systems and take responsibility for related where required.
- Act as an enthusiastic and motivated member of the team.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites in the UK and overseas to perform issue analysis and gain knowledge. You must hold a full driving licence and current passport before successful appointment.
- Understand electromechanical engineering drawings, including mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and basic wiring or PCB layouts.
- Basic knowledge of electronic component specifications, tolerances, and functional requirements.
- A curious mindset with a strong desire to investigate and identify root causes.
- Highly organised with proven ability to work within given timescales.
- Motivated to adapt and learn new skills and technologies.
- Competence in MS Office tools such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to analyse complex, cross-disciplinary data creatively to drive improvement activities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience identifying and implementing more efficient ways of working.
- Experience using a wide variety of mechanical and electrical test and measurement equipment, such as coordinate-measuring machines (CMM), micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, and similar equipment.
