Lead Engineer, Mobile Performance
PlayStation Studios Mobile is looking for an experienced software engineer to lead performance optimization efforts for mobile games and proprietary SDKs; and establish practices needed to sustain superior technical performance across our mobile game portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Optimize the runtime performance of internal SDKs built for mobile games
- Advise teams responsible for performance optimization of mobile games using Unity and Unreal Engine
- Establish pipelines and processes to ensure high technical performance on a broad range of devices
- Create appropriate metrics and targets for evaluating runtime performance at scale
- Develop SDK modules for performance telemetry and performance tiering
- Actively track technical changes and innovations affecting the runtime performance of mobile games
Desired Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of professional experience developing mobile games or related products
- Expertise in runtime performance optimization and memory management for mobile games
- Experience with profiling tools provided by OS, game engine, and chipset developers
- Experience correcting for latency and packet loss on mobile networks
- Strong understanding of CPU, GPU, memory, and I/O optimization techniques and tradeoffs
- Strong C++ or C# experience
- Familiarity with HLSL and mobile graphics APIs (Metal, Vulkan, OpenGL ES)
- B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent
