Sony UK Technology Centre Limited is the only manufacturing centre for Sony in Europe, and have over 500 highly skilled team players who help create some of the most advanced technology on the global market. The heart of today’s operation at Pencoed is centered on the manufacture of high technology Broadcast and Professional Cameras and Systems including the latest industry leading 4K technology. Alongside this, we provide contract manufacturing solutions for multiple non-Sony branded businesses. This collaborative approach to contract manufacturing has produced many commercial successes over the years, including the best-selling British computer of all time, the Raspberry Pi. Additionally, we are the home of a Sony customer service and solutions centre, a business incubation centre and much more.
Role Overview

As a Product & Process Quality Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of the innovation that powers these moments—ensuring the reliability and excellence of the technology trusted by professionals across the globe.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with specialist engineers to expand their expertise, whilst using their foundation knowledge of electronics manufacturing to contribute to the growth of Sony UK Technology Centre. Our team is built on trust, collaboration, and shared pride in our product, and it is essential the successful candidate demonstrates a passion for quality and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of product and process quality in electronics and mechanical assembly.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers to tackle real-world manufacturing challenges and drive practical solutions.
- Lead investigations into technical product issues, delivering clear insights through presentations and detailed reports.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects with innovative quality planning.
- Develop in process quality testing procedures to uphold performance and reliability.
- Present quality metrics and progress to the senior leadership team.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance production efficiency and yield.
- Make customer visits, including worldwide sister factories to learn & support quality performance.
- Degree or HND in Engineering (Electronics, or related manufacturing discipline).
- Solid understanding of circuit diagrams and component functionality to support technical investigations.
- Knowledge of Lean principles and quality methodologies such as 8D, SPC, and DMAIC.
- Comfortable analysing data, understanding trends and formulating conclusions.
- A proactive team player with a collaborative mindset and a passion for continuous development.
- Naturally curious about technology and products, with a desire to understand and improve how things work.
- Clear and confident communicator to engage across the organisation.
- Detail-oriented problem solver with a strong analytical approach.
- Experience in a role focused on quality of products and/or process’.
- Experience working in a electronics manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret or willingness to gain a functional understanding of test software.
