We are currently recruiting two key roles within our London-based TV Distribution team, supporting two separate territories:
- Sales Executive – Nordics & Benelux
- Sales Executive – CEE, Israel, Greece & Africa
Both roles share the same core purpose, responsibilities and required skills, and contribute to our wider international distribution business, but focus on different territories.
Primary purpose of rolesIn partnership and close collaboration with the rest of the team, support sales efforts across the assigned territory, achieving and exceeding a percentage of the annual sales budget across all of our catalogue, including finished programming and formats. Handle existing deal commitments and partnerships, creating and initiating new business opportunities across the territory. Ensure in-depth product knowledge across SPE’s product categories (with particular focus on unscripted, deep library, Foreign Language and Kids/Animation), continuously working towards generating incremental revenue opportunities.
Sales, planning & analysisUnderstand all aspects of sales, including optimisation of product windowing and pricing, improving product value while considering business objectives, market conditions, processes and in‑depth analysis. Work with Sales Planning to create client‑focused avails (including suggested recommended titles based on client feedback), and share avail updates as needed. Work with the Sales team, Research and Analysis, and other SPE divisions to analyse data, structure insights into product performance and revenue trends, and present ideas to further increase performance. Work with Sales Planning to provide updates on franchise alignment and SVOD seasonal opportunities, recommending focus areas and commercial opportunities. Work with Research to proactively follow up on reporting requests from clients, tracking these in territory trackers. Based on the agreed brief, work with Sales and Marketing teams to build engaging client‑facing presentations to support commercial discussions. Provide administrative and organisational support to senior leaders in your assigned territory.
Deal negotiation & managementWork independently to create, negotiate and paper thoughtful deals with favourable terms that meet strategic objectives and comply with SPT policies and guidelines. Utilise all available sources of data and insight to inform decision‑making and optimise deals. Collaborate with SPE legal counsel and central teams during negotiations. Maintain and update Sony key format contact lists, client contact spreadsheets and accurate format sales trackers, including option expiry dates. Support the sales team in preparation for client meetings and format pitches. Ensure Sony’s ability to fully service all existing and new deal commitments.
Financial responsibilitiesAssist in preparing annual sales budgets and mid‑range plans. Assist in tracking team expenses to ensure operations are within T&E budgets. Provide sales estimates and projections on individual deals and products, ensuring projections and budgets are met or exceeded. Provide regular updates on sales performance.
Account management & relationshipsGrow, develop and nurture strong and positive relationships with key clients, partners, managers and internal collaborators. Seek to understand clients’ perspectives, adapting approaches accordingly and interacting regularly to understand their drivers, goals and needs.
Marketing, promotions & publicityWork closely with the relevant territory marketing team (for Nordics & Benelux OR for CEE, Israel, Greece & Africa) to support presentation preparation and tactical efforts that enhance content pitches, client relationships and overall business activities. When appropriate, guide marketing and research teams to develop customised pitch presentations tailored to the client’s palette, style, language and performance metrics.
Sony relationshipsDevelop and nurture relationships with key partners within Sony Pictures Television, sharing best practices and learning from cross‑LOB and international colleagues, as well as other key divisions (Theatrical, Home Entertainment, Production, Legal, GMS, People & Organisation). Build relationships with other Sony Corp entities such as Sony Music, Electronics, Sony Mobile and PlayStation.
OperationsCollaborate closely with the territory team to continuously improve processes and performance. Work with operations teams in Los Angeles and London to increase efficiency and accuracy in avail list generation, contract administration, amendments, start orders, change orders, approvals, allocations and product delivery.
Skills and experienceTypically 2–3 years of direct sales experience and track record of achievements in a similar TV distribution sales role. Strong understanding of all forms of TV/film distribution: Free TV, Pay TV, Basic TV, TVOD, EST, SVOD and PPV. Experience supporting deal negotiations, with the ability to analyse, evaluate and communicate opportunities and risks. Ability to assist in the end‑to‑end sales process. Confident self‑starter, creative, critical and autonomous thinker who thrives under tight deadlines. Communicative, proactive problem solver; flexible, adaptable, pragmatic and resourceful with strong organisational skills. Strong presentation and sales skills; adept at managing both client and internal relationships. Understanding of technology, digital distribution business models and client requirements. Collaborative teammate with the ability to work closely with Legal, Business Affairs, Technology, Marketing, Publicity, Research, Operations, Analysis and other departments. High proficiency in Excel. Proficient in PowerPoint and Word. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to travel to individual markets in the assigned territory on an occasional/ad‑hoc basis.
