About the Department: SMP's London International office provides central Financial, Legal, Administrative and IT support services to SMP affiliates across the international region, covering territories in Continental Europe, South‑East Asia, India, Australia, Middle East and Africa.

Overview: You will assist the international business development team by providing insightful analysis on business performance to inform decision‑making. Your primary responsibilities include supporting the implementation of strategy behind international deal signings, preparing relevant analyses and valuation data, and communicating these to direct management.

Responsibilities:

  • Critically evaluate signing proposals and ensure all required information is present and correct.
  • Communicate with deal‑owning A&R teams to keep them informed about associated risk levels included in deal valuations.
  • Support the approval process for deal proposals while monitoring deal performance and presenting analysis to direct management.
  • Work closely with local offices to understand local markets and assist in deal appraisals.
  • Report to management on investments in emerging territories and assess investment risk and growth for these regions.
  • Advise teams on the structure and financial implications of investments.
  • Maintain and monitor advance spend across international territories throughout the financial year.
  • Provide insights into inter‑company revenues and explain variances to key financial indicators.
  • Operate bespoke research & analyse tools to support the signing of new and existing writer A&R deals.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to a level 6 qualification or experience (equivalent to a Bachelor's degree) demonstrating associated capabilities.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with sound commercial awareness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and use of statistical tools to analyse and predict complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to interact confidently with all staff and management.
  • Clear oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Proven experience with data visualisation software such as Power BI.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the music publishing industry.
  • Demonstrable experience in using music publishing royalty systems.

Desirable:

  • Educated to a level 7 qualification or experience (equivalent to a Master's degree).
  • Degree or similar in accounting or finance with fundamental knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of specific intricacies between overseas territories copyright and best practice regulations for music publishing contracts.
  • Additional language proficiency.
