The Strategy & Insight department at Sony Music is focussed on leveraging data to support decisions across the business. The team focus on several different methodologies including market share analysis, primary research, social research and partner analytics, combined to give us a rich understanding of key topics. Our goal is to make Sony Music the most audience-centric, data-informed music company.

Being a central team, this is a brilliant opportunity to work across a huge breadth of different strategic and artist projects whilst learning about and utilising different research and analytical methodologies to help teams across the business. You will be an integral part of the team helping coordinate and support the Strategy & Insights team, helping on daily reporting and with day-to-day requests from our marketing teams. A good literacy of the music landscape and music consumers will go far in this role!

Role Overview:

  • Office attendance: Mandatory office attendance on Tuesday, plus 2 other days (total 3 days per week in the office)
  • Flexibility: There is flexibility which can be discussed with the line manager on the other 2 days you are in the office depending on workload and team projects
  • Offsite working: There are no offsite working opportunities in this role

What you'll do:

  • Support the commercial strategy team on daily / weekly reporting needs
  • Work alongside the S&I team responding to requests on artist audiences and strategic projects
  • Create presentations and trend reports to help convey findings and recommendations to the business
  • Support with the management and analysis of tasks on our youth culture audience panel
  • Manage the team’s reports and outputs, uploading them to our online portal
  • Support the team with a wide variety of ad hoc projects and label workshops
  • Opportunity to learn SQL & Snowflake as well as the various primary research approaches

Who you are:

  • Essential: Prior experience of manipulating basic data in Excel & PowerPoint is essential as this is a major area of support required
  • You may have had experience of using statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS, eViews or languages like SQL
  • Good understanding of the music streaming landscape, music economics
  • A love of music is essential! We’re lucky enough to work across all the labels at Sony so a varied taste and appetite for immersing in different genres and scenes is essential
  • Nice to have: Detail orientated – findings need to be precise and accurately reflect the data
  • Problem solving mentality and an inquiring, diagnostic mind – not all our questions come with ready-made solutions, so you need to be able to think problems through
  • Great communicator – you will need to be able to clearly communicate findings to colleagues
  • Personable, with a passion for understanding people and music, culture (“high” and “low”) and the dynamics of social media and the online landscape
  • A keen eye for design and presentation

Process Overview:

Applications open August 10th at 10:00 and close August 24th at 10:00. Candidates whose applications are selected will be invited to complete a video interview between September 28th and October 3rd. Candidates who pass this stage will then be invited to the final stage of the process, an in-person assessment centre in early November. We will send further information on this stage before the date arrives. Successful applicants will start in January 2027.
