Sony Music Commercial Group (CG) is known as the backbone of the company. As well as running its own active labels, CG is the proprietor of Sony Music’s entire catalogue, representing virtually every musical genre. Our catalogue marketing activity exists in conjunction with artists and Sony’s frontline labels on a non-stop basis, identifying opportunities, moments, and trends which could bring fans closer to their favourite artists, and which could introduce them to other artists in Sony’s vast catalogue.

To say the role and the department is varied would be an understatement, and the year-long internship will allow you to see how our Digital marketing team operates, in terms of Audience Development, Reactive Marketing and Video Strategy. Key to the role is keeping abreast of social media trends and short-form content which uses music – identifying and amplifying these moments and tapping into communities is an important part of what we do. We value dedication, passion, and innovative thinking in all that we do, and strive to create an environment in which experience and knowledge is constantly being shared.

Role Overview:

  • Office attendance: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are mandatory in-office days
  • Flexibility: Wednesday and Thursday are flexible
  • Offsite working: You will have the opportunity to attend gigs, content shoots, assist on promo

What you'll do:

  • Assist with the day-to-day management of artist and label channels, fan community activations, CRM campaigns, competitions and cross-platform content distribution
  • Pitch tracks to digital partners
  • Support video release set-up, ensuring metadata accuracy and quality control
  • Circulate regular performance reports across audience development, social media and streaming platforms
  • Conduct ad hoc competitor and market research to identify trends and opportunities
  • Support the team with operational and administrative tasks, including Linkfire management and channel verification
  • Attend content shoots, showcase events and artist appearances where required

Who you are:

Essential

  • Have a genuine love of music – nothing is too niche or obscure for us!
  • A broad appreciation of music is key, but a decent knowledge of pre-2010 repertoire would definitely be beneficial
  • A proven self-starter, with drive to learn how the music industry operates, and passion to learn and develop
  • Able to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Organisation skills are key for this role

  • An individual plugged into the world of social media (especially TikTok) and current trends
  • A highly organised individual who can multi-task while remaining calm under pressure, and who can prioritise workload, goals, targets and time, and to work independently
  • A team player who can be relied upon to participate as needed during busy periods, who can confidently deal with people at all levels, both internally and externally

Process Overview:

Applications open August 10th at 10:00 and close August 24th at 10:00. Candidates whose applications are selected will be invited to complete a video interview between September 28th and October 3rd. Candidates who pass this stage will then be invited to the final stage of the process, an in-person assessment centre in early November. Successful applicants will start in January 2027.
