Sony Music’s Product, Design, Engineering and Global Operations (PDEGO) organization is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team in our London office.

You’ll help build and evolve the platforms that power some of the most critical areas of our global business and support artists, songwriters, labels, and partners around the world.

This is an opportunity to solve complex engineering challenges at scale while working closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to modernize the systems that support the music industry.

What you'll do

  • Build and enhance scalable applications that support Sony Music’s global products and platforms
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software across the full application stack
  • Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into reliable technical solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with a focus on long-term quality and system reliability
  • Participate in architecture discussions, technical design, and modernization initiatives across our platforms
  • Design APIs and services that integrate with internal systems and third-party platforms
  • Help improve application performance, observability, scalability, and operational excellence
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing
  • Partner closely with engineering leadership to establish engineering best practices and continuously improve development processes
  • Troubleshoot production issues using logs, monitoring, and root-cause analysis to ensure platform stability

Who you are

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining complex software applications
  • Experience implementing distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
  • Experience building frontend applications using Type Script and React
  • Experience working with databases and query technologies such as My SQL, Snowflake, Neo4j, Kafka, Open Search, or similar platforms
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with HTTP and OAuth standards
  • Comfortable working within AWS cloud environments
  • Experience writing unit, integration, and automated tests
  • Experience investigating production issues through logging, monitoring, and performance analysis
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams
  • Interest in learning the complexities of the systems and business processes that support the global music industry

  • Experience building software for financial, accounting, ERP, payments, e-commerce, content, data, or other highly complex and data-intensive business systems
  • Experience modeling complex business domains and translating business rules into scalable software solutions
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and relational databases
  • Experience optimizing application performance, database queries, and large-scale data processing
  • Passion for improving engineering standards, developer tooling, and technical documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives without direct people-management responsibility
  • Curious, collaborative, and proactive, with a continuous-improvement mindset
  • Interest in music, technology, and building systems that directly support artists and creators
