Sony Music's Product, Design, Engineering & Global Operations (PDEGO) team is seeking a Vice President of Engineering within our Content product team.
What you'll do:
- Set the overall technical vision and long‐term strategy for the Content product engineering organization, including client-facing tools to create and manage music content.
- Lead, mentor, and scale the engineering team, including senior leaders, to ensure high performance and career growth.
- Drive technical excellence, operational maturity, and accountability for the systems underpinning our content products.
- Partner directly with executive leadership in Product, Design, and Global Operations to define and execute the product roadmap and business objectives.
- Oversee the architectural direction, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and secure for global operation.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical debt management across the organization.
Who you are:
- Seeking 18+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles (Director/VP), including managing managers.
- Proven success in leading and scaling large, complex distributed systems and multi‐product ecosystems.
- Deep expertise in modern software architecture, cloud technologies (AWS), and data infrastructure (e.g., Snowflake, Neo4j, Kafka).
- Experience driving organizational change, improving engineering practices, and delivering results in an agile environment.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with product management and executive stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical strategy.
- Experience with talent acquisition, performance management, and building diverse, high‐performing teams.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A hands‐on, senior leader who can dive into technical details while maintaining a strategic view of the Content domain.
- Track record of aligning technical roadmap with key business KPIs and driving measurable results.
- Experience with global scale, M&A technology integration, and managing the evolution of the SDLC in new technology environments (e.g., Generative AI).
- Can mobilize a multi‐disciplinary organization around a unified technical and product vision.
- Establishes and enforces engineering excellence and architectural governance across multiple teams.
- Experience working in music is a big plus.
