Responsibilities:
- Identify and isolate bottlenecks and pain‑points in the developer experience of using the PlayStation toolchain.
- Collaborate with partners (game studios, middleware vendors), internal teams, and the open‑source community to find solutions.
- Prototype and evaluate systems to improve developer experience.
- Engage with the open‑source community to develop solutions that benefit our customers and the broader OSS community.
- Contribute to our other compiler team duties of responding to partner issue reports, general maintenance, and code review.
- Mentor and encourage junior developers, and advocate team‑wide improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Computer science (or similar) degree.
- 7+ years of experience with C/C++ in a native environment.
- 5 to 10 years of professional software development experience.
- Familiarity and/or development history with LLVM or similarly complex compiler technology.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to address seemingly insoluble problems.
- Experience with profilers, debuggers, linkers, and other components used for native application development.
- Experience with open‑source development workflows, public discussions on mailing lists, and code reviews.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with the C++ specification.
- Experience in game development or a similar environment (high performance, large codebases).
- Knowledge of AMD64 microarchitectures and their performance characteristics.
- A desire to improve the quality‑of‑life of software developers.
