The role:
- We are looking for an enthusiastic and technically minded individual to join our Technical Publications team.

You will receive structured training and mentoring while contributing to real customer programmes, developing skills in technical documentation, engineering data analysis and information management.
Responsibilities
- As a Technical Author, you will support the creation, maintenance and delivery of technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Typical activities include:
- Creating and updating technical manuals, procedures, user guides and maintenance documentation.
- Interpreting engineering information including drawings, specifications, parts data, models and design documentation.
- Researching technical information and engaging with engineering subject matter experts.
- Producing clear, accurate and logically structured technical content.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of Illustrated Parts Data and associated technical records.
- Checking documentation for quality, accuracy and consistency.
- Working with document management and content management systems.
- Collaborating with engineers, project teams, support staff and customers to resolve technical queries.
- Supporting documentation projects through planning, development, review and delivery stages.
- Contributing to continuous improvement activities within the Technical Publications team.

- Essential:
- Degree, HND, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in an engineering, technical or scientific discipline.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical information.
- Strong written communication skills.

- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
- Enthusiasm for learning new systems, tools and processes.
- Desirable:
- Any of the following would be advantageous but are not required:
- Experience creating or maintaining technical documentation.
- Experience working in Aerospace, Defence, Manufacturing, Automotive, Rail, Energy or other engineering environments.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, CAD models or Bills of Material.
- Exposure to document management, content management or product lifecycle management systems.
- Experience working with XML-based authoring tools or technical publishing software.
- Understanding of product support, maintenance or Integrated Logistics Support activities.
