Sonomatic are a leading NDT company specialising in the design and development of advanced automated ultrasonic inspection solutions, supporting our worldwide NDT field service division. Our equipment is used in environments ranging from deep-water subsea inspections to high-temperature refinery operations, but the work in this role will be focused on the preparation, build, and testing of systems before deployment.
We’re looking for a skilled Workshop Technician to join our team, assembling, maintaining, and testing bespoke inspection equipment ready for deployment. You’ll work with innovative robotics and precision engineering in a well-equipped workshop, with plenty of scope to develop your skills and take on new challenges. This position will suit an individual looking to further their career as a mechanical technician. The ideal candidate will have completed a mechanically biased Level 3 apprenticeship and have at least two years of post-apprenticeship experience.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Building mechanical tools and assemblies from start to finish.
- Using basic hand tools and workshop equipment to make sure everything fits and works properly.
- Following drawings and instructions to make sure builds are right the first time.
- Testing of tooling systems to ensure they are correctly functioning before shipping.
- Getting ancillary equipment and spares ready for shipping to offshore job sites.
Attributes:
- Able to follow engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Bench fitting i.e. drilling, tapping & filing.
- Computer literate: Microsoft Word/Outlook.
- Organised and self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
