Sonomatic are looking for an Assistant Materials & Corrosion Engineer on a 6-month fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend for a longer period. The Assistant Engineer will support the corrosion management and materials assurance activities across operated assets. The role focuses on identifying corrosion threats, supporting mitigation strategies, and assisting with integrity assessments to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.

  • Corrosion & Materials Engineering
    • Assist in identifying corrosion threats including CO₂, H₂S, MIC, erosion‑corrosion, pitting, CUI, and galvanic corrosion.
    • Support preparation and maintenance of Corrosion Threat Assessments.
    • Assist with materials selection reviews, including carbon steel, CRA, duplex, elastomers, and non‑metallics.
    • Review operating envelopes (temperature, pressure, pH, water chemistry) for corrosion relevance.
  • Inspection & Integrity Support
    • Support inspection planning activities including RBI, inspection scopes, and degradation mechanism reviews.
    • Review inspection and monitoring data (UT, corrosion probes, coupons, pigging data).
    • Assist with anomaly assessment and fitness‑for‑service inputs under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Chemical & Fluid Management
    • Support evaluation of corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, biocides, and other production chemicals.
    • Assist with laboratory testing reviews (corrosion testing, elastomer compatibility, scale tendency).
    • Review produced water and injection water chemistry for corrosion and souring risks.
  • Operational Support
    • Provide corrosion review for MOCs, well interventions, tie‑ins, and new projects.
    • Support investigations into corrosion‑related failures or excursions.
    • Interface with operations, inspection, and materials suppliers as required.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Prepare corrosion engineering calculations, technical notes, and reports.
    • Update and maintain Corrosion Management Framework and IOW data trending.
    • Ensure engineering documentation complies with company and regulatory requirements.
