The Role
Would you like to work directly with business teams and turn real operational problems into useful AI solutions? As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll take well‑defined business problems and build working AI solutions that colleagues can use. You’ll own use cases end to end, working alongside the Use Case Owner, often on site, and taking solutions through development, testing, deployment and ongoing support. This is a hands‑on generalist role where you’ll work across software engineering, data integration, AI and platform activity. You’ll use the simplest effective approach, build on the team’s shared standards and components, and share knowledge to create solutions that are reliable, maintainable and built to last.

Desirable skills
- Strong hands‑on software engineering experience, for example in Python or TypeScript, including APIs and data integration, with experience delivering production software end to end across front‑end, back‑end and data components.
- The ability to understand business workflows quickly, communicate effectively with asset managers, finance teams and site engineers, and work comfortably with ambiguity and changing requirements.
- A pragmatic approach to solution design, including testing, documentation, permissions and logging; experience in energy, another regulated or asset‑intensive industry, DevOps or MLOps would be beneficial.
AI & Digital Literacy
- Hands‑on experience building solutions with large language models, including retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, agents and evaluation.
- Good judgement around where AI adds value and where conventional software is the better solution, with an interest in reusable AI patterns and responsible citizen development.

In line with EU pay transparency requirements, salary ranges will be shared with candidates in the EU before progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process, and always before interview. This range reflects the typical starting pay for new hires. Pay above this level may apply in specific circumstances based on experience, skills, or role scope.
