Senior Social Media and Digital Content Manager

We have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and strategic social media professional to join Imperial Business School as Senior Social Media and Digital Content Manager.

This pivotal role will lead the development and delivery of the School’s social media strategy, driving audience engagement, community growth and brand visibility across our key channels.

Reporting to the Head of Content Marketing, the post holder will have overall responsibility for the School’s social media presence, including Linked In, Instagram, You Tube and Facebook.

You will lead the planning, creation and optimisation of high-quality, audience-focused content, ensuring social media plays a central role in supporting student recruitment, strengthening faculty visibility and amplifying the School’s reputation for thought leadership and innovation.

You will line manage the Social Media and Digital Content Manager and work closely with colleagues across Marketing and Communications, Recruitment and Admissions, Central Communications, faculty, departments and external partners.

This is a hands‑on strategic role, offering the opportunity to shape the School’s social media direction while ensuring strong editorial standards, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

  • What you would be doing
  • Lead the development, delivery and ongoing improvement of the Business School’s social media strategy, aligned with wider marketing and communications objectives.
  • Take ownership of the School’s social media channels, ensuring a consistent brand voice, strong visual identity and high editorial standards.
  • Plan and oversee a strategic social media calendar, working closely with colleagues across the School to identify opportunities for content, campaigns and live event coverage.
  • Lead social media campaigns that build community, support audience engagement and contribute to student recruitment and brand visibility goals.
  • Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on social media best practice, channel optimisation, content strategy and audience engagement.
  • Provide strategic guidance on video content, including You Tube optimisation, platform best practice and data-informed video strategies.
  • Line manage the Social Media and Digital Content Manager, setting priorities, supporting development and ensuring effective delivery.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on social media performance, using insights to inform continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead on social media governance, including best practice, data protection, social listening, reputational risk and crisis communications where required.
  • Manage relevant budgets, suppliers and agency relationships to ensure value, consistency and effective delivery.
  • What we are looking for
  • Significant experience developing and delivering social media and digital content strategies that drive audience growth, engagement and measurable impact.
  • Strong experience planning, delivering and evaluating social media campaigns across multiple platforms, including Linked In, Instagram, You Tube and Facebook.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content and tone for different audiences, channels and objectives.
  • Strong understanding of video content, You Tube optimisation and how audiences engage with video across digital platforms.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with experience using social media insight, reporting and testing to improve performance.
  • Experience providing expert social media guidance to colleagues and stakeholders across a complex organisation.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Line management experience and a supportive, collaborative leadership style.
  • A creative, solution-focused mindset, with a strong understanding of social media governance, reputational risk and digital best practice.
