Imperial College London is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across our campuses, with a focus on Mechanical building services and associated systems. Working as part of the Maintenance Team, you will help ensure Imperial’s buildings, assets and infrastructure remain operational, safe and fit for purpose, supporting academic, research, teaching and administrative activity with minimal disruption. This is a hands‑on supervisory role, combining technical knowledge, team coordination and customer‑focused service delivery within a busy campus environment.
What you would be doing
- Supervise a team of Maintenance Technicians delivering planned and reactive maintenance across Mechanical, Electrical and Building Fabric assets, with a particular focus on Mechanical building services.
- Provide technical advice, support fault‑finding and repairs, and help ensure plant and equipment remain operational, safe and fit for purpose.
- Support effective service delivery by monitoring KPIs, reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, coordinating sub‑contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and to Imperial standards.
- Liaise with colleagues, stakeholders and project teams, support reporting and the timely procurement of spares and equipment and contribute to continuous improvement across maintenance services.
What we are looking for
- A recognised apprenticeship and relevant technical qualification in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Experience maintaining and repairing Mechanical and/or Electrical equipment and building services systems.
- Experience managing or supervising technical maintenance teams and sub‑contractors.
- Experience developing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Experience working within KPI‑driven maintenance environments.
- Knowledge of BMS systems to fault diagnostic level, with Trend experience an advantage.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant statutory Health & Safety legislation.
- The ability to interpret drawings and manuals to support fault‑finding.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to liaise with stakeholders, draft reports and attend meetings.
- A proactive approach to problem‑solving, often under pressure.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and relevant building management systems.
- The ability to work flexibly as part of a busy, multi‑tasking maintenance team.
