Laboratory Technician & Support Worker in London

This is a varied and meaningful position combining laboratory, administrative, and personal support responsibilities. You will work closely with Professor Terracciano and the wider Cardiac Function Section team, providing hands‐on research assistance alongside day‐to‐day administrative and clerical support. A key part of the role is enabling a disabled member of staff to work independently and with dignity, making a direct and positive impact on their professional life.

What you would be doing:

• You will perform simple laboratory tasks to assist members of the laboratory in their experiments.
• Monitor laboratory activity on a daily basis.
• Perform regular maintenance on equipment (e.g., microscope assembly).
• Place all orders for the Lab and liaise directly with suppliers.
• Be the first point of contact which includes telephone calls, general enquiries, welcoming visitors, etc.
• Provide basic secretarial support, including taking notes at meetings which you will attend where relevant (this also includes attendance at teaching activities).

What we are looking for:

• A degree in a Biological Science field or equivalent vocational qualification or relevant laboratory‐based experience would be desirable.
• You must have experience in laboratory‐based research (including management of equipment maintenance).
• You should be confident in your knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety requirements.
• You should have experience of working as an assistant, including experience in booking meetings and making travel arrangements, typing and note taking.
• Willingness to learn and to be flexible are essential.
• The ability to interact effectively with scientists in a related discipline, including clear communication, is required.
• Adequate interpersonal skills are also a key requirement, as is commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
• A commitment to data quality is essential.
• An understanding of the process and importance of publishing is essential.
