Are you a skilled communications professional who enjoys turning complex information into clear, engaging content? Imperial is seeking an ICT Communications Officer to help shape and deliver communications that inform and inspire staff and students about the digital products, services and initiatives provided by our Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Division.

Working as part of a small, collaborative team, you will create high-quality, audience-focused communications across a range of channels, supporting key ICT priorities including cyber security, AI, sustainability and digital transformation. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to communications that help one of the world’s leading universities deliver its Digital Plan and improve the experience of its community.

The ICT Communications Officer sits within the Internal Communications team in the Communications Division and works closely with colleagues across ICT and the wider university to deliver communications that support service awareness, engagement and digital change.

About ICT

Imperial’s Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Division enables world-class teaching, research, and operations by delivering secure, reliable, and innovative digital solutions, guided by the university’s Digital Plan. With over 300 colleagues and under the guidance of the Chief Information Officer, ICT manages a vast IT estate that spans student lifecycle systems, the digital campus, research computing, finance and HR platforms, data and analytics, and cybersecurity, while partnering across the university to drive digital transformation and excellent customer experience.

ICT operates within a robust governance framework aligning technology strategy, product roadmaps, and service performance with institutional priorities.

What you would be doing

In this role, you will support the delivery of integrated communications and engagement activity across ICT, helping colleagues and students understand and engage with important digital services, projects and change initiatives. You will:

  • develop and deliver communications content and campaigns that support ICT priorities, services and product launches
  • translate complex technical information into clear, accessible and compelling content for a range of audiences
  • create and commission content in a variety of formats, including copy, presentations, video and digital or print assets
  • support and maintain key ICT communications channels, including webpages, SharePoint and ICT’s subscription e-newsletter
  • work with ICT teams and wider stakeholders to plan targeted communications and engagement activity
  • provide communications advice on messaging, planning, channels and best practice
  • support events and promotional activity aligned to ICT’s strategic goals
  • monitor engagement and feedback to help improve communications effectiveness and audience experience
  • contribute to communications for key ICT initiatives linked to Imperial’s wider Digital Plan

This role would suit someone who is comfortable drafting a web update, shaping a campaign, supporting an event and working closely with stakeholders to bring technical stories to life.

  • experience of working in internal communications in a complex organisation with diverse audiences
  • experience of delivering clear, tailored communications that help people understand services, projects or change
  • excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and channels
  • strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • confidence in building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • experience of developing content across multiple channels, including digital platforms
  • the ability to interpret complex or technical information and turn it into engaging, audience-focused communications
  • good judgement, discretion and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
